!!! Forty Rules of Love !!!

Have you ever read a book, which was not just hard to put down, but which made you sad when it ended. It felt like the end of an era.

I decided to write minimum about this book .. It wouldn't be enough and I would not be able to live up to my self created benchmarks either.

It is a profound piece of writing, words composed in a most impactful manner, these are the words we live with every day and yet ignore their meaning. The crust of the story is, yes, the old and frequently written theme "Love" but not at all the usual cheesy mushy stuff, but something different, very different . Since all the characters are of a different era, a different world and yet you can connect to all the worlds of Shams of Tabriz and Rumi. Two people can teach you about ten different relationships and hundred other emotions in just 40 rules.

I would recommend this read whole hearted-ly, no i don't say its a must read for everyone because it is not every one's cup of tea. Because the style of writing is very deep, the pace is decent and philosophy in full pace, but oh! what a read, I enjoyed it immensely that I took my own sweet time to finish this.

This story has something for everyone who would be willing enough to take something from it, and yes I am now a die hard fan of Rumi understanding his inspiration of writing touched me to the core.

Elif Shafak's best piece of writing so far. I would be soon reading it for the third time;)

  1. I know the feeling when you get so absorbed in the world a particular book takes you into that it actually saddens you when it ends. I am a Rumi fan myself...shall pick up this book for sure!
